Q: Do I even need to buy a barcode or get my own company prefix?

A: Maybe not, many retailers will provide you their own barcode but you will likely not be able to use it outside their stores.

Q: What types of stores will accept your barcodes?

A: Our barcodes are more frequently used in the smaller retail environments as a way to help small companies launch their products, but many larger stores will also allow their use. It is ultimately at the discretion of your retailer whether they will allow the use of our barcodes. Always check with your retailer before you print the barcodes on your packaging.

Q: Can I use your barcodes in all retail stores?

A: Most yes, but it appears there are a number of larger stores that will no longer allow you in their system unless you have your own company prefix with GS1. These may include Walmart, Best Buy, Kroeger, and Safeway. (we will add more as they are brought to our attention)

Q: Do I need my own prefix?

A: If you are a larger company producing a large volume of goods it would be best to have your own company prefix to prevent any unforeseen problems selling through a larger retailer.

Q: I have a product with two different packages - they are the same product but different weights. Can I use the same barcode on both?

A: No, you will need to have 2 unique barcodes. A different barcode may be needed to distinguish a product by its weight, size, color, etc.

Q: Can these barcodes be used on my product worldwide?

A: Yes, these are globally unique UPC-A barcodes that can be used in any and all countries, including USA, Canada, and the UK. But again, we remind you that a barcode can only be used if your retailer allows it. Always check with your retailer before printing the barcodes on your packaging.

Q: The packaging for my product has already been printed and now I need to put a barcode on it. Can you help?

A: Yes, if you need barcode labels we can provide them in quantities of 500, 1000 or 2000 and up. - shipping included.

Q: How will my barcode graphic be delivered to me?

A: You can download your barcode instantly after your order has been placed or log back in to download anytime.

Q: Which graphic format will my barcode be delivered in?

A: Barcodes are delivered as high res PDF (vector) and PNG (bitmap).

Q: How long will I be able to use your barcode on my product?

A: The barcode can be used for as long as your retailer or retailers allow it.
